For the Birds (3)

I can't believe a week has gone by - sorry for not getting back sooner. Thanks for taking time out to come and look at my blog, I do appreciate it! I can proudly say all my Christmas card have been written and posted! I made over 40 cards this year which I am pleased about. I will again state I plan to make my Christmas cards early next year, however I do say this every year and December sees me madly creating my cards!!!!

Here is the final card I made for Christmas using the "For the Birds" stamp set.

It is 4x4 in size and very simple to create. The longest time was taken doing the paper piercing! I felt it just needed a little something more. I didn't tape under the piercing sections so the matt tends to sit off the card and show off the paper piercing a bit more.

I hope you like it!

Merry Christmas!

For the Birds Christmas Card (2)

And here is my next Christmas card using the Christmas stamp in the "For the Birds" stamp set.

I always enjoy doing some colouring in of outline stamps. That was the reason I was attracted to stamping in the first place!!!! I used the Stampin'Write markers to colour in these samples. The choice of thick or finer tip means you can do a lovely neat job.

A great quick Christmas card to create with an easy layout.

See you again soon!

For the Birds Christmas Cards

I think the stamp set "For the Birds" is so sweet and just had to make some Christmas cards using the Christmas design in the set. My first card was a CAS of one I saw on Splitcoaststampers by Sarah Will - I always like her style of cards. Once I got playing then the other designs and layouts started coming to me.

Here is my CAS of Sarah's card.  I always like a clean & simple style of card!
This one is in Raspberry Ripple.

This one is in Gumball Green.
I'll show you my other cards tomorrow - otherwise I will run out of cards to show you!!!!!

Folk Christmas Tree Cards

Well here we go with some festive season creativity! Folk style Christmas trees seem to be the "in" thing this year in card making judging by what I have seen on Pinterest.

I got the inspiration for this card design from Linda Heller at her site Stampin'School, Linda had made a smaller notecard version and I expanded it into a larger design. You can find out more about Stampin'School here.

The papers came from the cute Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack in the Holiday mini catalogue. There are some lovely paper designs in this paper stack and such a versatile size for card creating.  The paper was cut as a 4 x 2.5 inch rectangle and then trimmed into the triangle shape.

The blue tree had silver Dazzling Details added to it as extra bling. The stars were punched out of Glimmer paper using the star punch from the Merry Minis punch set.

To add a bit more detail to the card I stamped the lower card piece with one of the stamps from the Confetti stamp set. The sentiment came from Joyous Celebrations.

I hope you are having fun coming up your card design for 2013! I'll be back with more in a day or two - see you then!

Tool Shed Explosion Card

Hi! Sorry for the lack of posts but I have been laid up with back spasms. Not a pleasant experience!!!! And I have no idea what caused it!

Any way here is one last non Christmas card for the year before I start posting my Christmas samples for you to see. This card I made for my father-in-laws recent birthday and l liked it so much I promptly made a copy of it for my carpenter son's birthday in January ( yay prepared for a change!!!!)

It is an explosion style card as that was our class theme this month and one more sample to show in class never hurts - not sure my class ladies agree as they always say I make it too hard for them to choose which card to recreate!!!!

Here is the card front. The Tool shed stamp stamped up so well it looks like printed paper - the detail etched into Stampin'Up! stamps is amazing! I stamped it in Soft Suede ink onto Very Vanilla card. Matted it onto Riding Hood Red card, then Soft Suede DSP, Soft Suede matt and the body of the explosion card is Night of Navy. The stitched ribbon is also that colour. Don't you love the font on the sentiment? It is from Wacky Wishes one of the hostess sets in the main catalogue. The word stamp was inked in Riding Hood Red and also sponged around the punched out image edges.

You can see the card inside design below.

I stamped images in tone on tone ink - Night of Navy from Totally Tool stamp set and I have just searched the current catalogue for it and realised it has retired! That one snuck through when I did my sorting of stamp sets, well it has now been officially removed to my retired stamp sets shelves!

Hope you like my card! See you soon with some of my Christmas cards! Keeping fingers crossed that my back muscles behave!!!

Scentsational Season Cards

Here are a set of cards I created last month for a friend's workshop. As a set they are very quick and easy to make - which is always a bonus!

The stamp set is Scentsational  Season  and they have been cut out using the matching Holiday Collection framelits dies. You can see this cute collection on page 16 of the Holiday Catalogue.  If you buy both items together as the Scentsational Season bundle you will save yourself  $12!

The Designer Series paper is "Be of Good Cheer" from the current main catalogue. I love this set of papers!

Add some edging using the scallop trim border punch or dotted ribbon border punch, words from Teeny Tiny Sentiments punched out using the Word Window punch and finish off with a few spots of glitter adhesive in Cherry Cobbler and your card is done!

Hard to believe but it is a month until Christmas!!!!

Thanks for looking!

Anniversary Card

Here is one more sample of triple time stamping that I made for my recent wedding anniversary. I used the Stampin'Up!colour coach for the colour combination. I often refer to it for colour ideas - it saves a lot of time! If you don't have one I'd highly recommend getting one as it really is a terrific resource.

The colours are Early Espresso, Pink Pirouette and Marina Mist.

The stamp set is Elements of Style.

This is actually a copy of the one I gave Nick while we were away on holidays at Kangaroo Island. He accidentally knocked the original into the kitchen sink that was still wet following the washing up having been done!!!!! It did dry out okay but was a teeny bit warped so I made another one to show you on here!!

Triple Time Stamping

Hi! Sorry for the break in posts but I am away on holidays. Thank goodness for technology! Here is one more of my triple time stamping samples from my recent class.

I decided to try this technique on a square card and here is the result. I also used the illuminate pad from the Holiday catalogue to stamp the swirls from the Creative Elements set. The butterflies are from Creative Elements and Papillion Potpourri.

I also experimented with the illuminate inkpad by overstamping with it. Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig I overstamped the sentiment with the illuminate ink. You can see it a bit better in the photo below.

See how it gives the image a lovely shimmer - gorgeous!!!!

Colours in ink and card used are Tempting turquoise, Rich Razzleberry and Pumpkin Pie, along with whisper White card.

Thanks for looking!

Holiday Frame

I had a play with the new Illuminate Glimmer inkpad from the new Holiday catalogue (page 23). I've actually done a few things with it and will show you in later posts. For this card I used the roller wheel Cheerful Christmas and rolled it across the illuminate inkpad. The ink adds a subtle silver glimmer to the image as you rotate the card in the light.

The Holiday Frame embossing folder was fussy cut out and then sprayed with platinum shimmer paint mixed with rubbing alcohol to go with the glimmer theme.

The Christmas tree is from the set Scentsational Season and was stamped in Gumball Green to match the folded card. Silver Sparkle glitter glue was added as a highlight to the tree.

I really need to add a star to the top of the tree to finish it off I think.

Thanks for visiting!

Holiday Frame Card

Here is another card I made for my Catalogue Launch. I was playing with the embossing folder Holiday Frames (page 7 of Holiday catalogue) and thought it looked a bit plain just embossed on white card so I inked the embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot and this is how it turned out. It shows off the detail of the embossing folder so much better!

A bit of "fussy" cutting, the addition of some Early Espresso tulle behind the embossed piece and a stamped image from "Joyous Celebration" (same page in Holiday catalogue) and my card was done!

Cardstock - Cherry Cobbler, Naturals White
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso
Punch - Extra large oval

Hope my card gives you some ideas for your use of the Holiday Frame embossing folder!

Ornament Keepsakes Card

This card started off as a CASE from the Holiday Catalogue but then I decided to make it a bit different if you know what I mean. So the card I was CASEing is on page 3 of the Holiday Catalogue. If you have not seen the catalogue click here to see it.

Here is my card -

I've made the picture bigger so as the extra stamped detail comes out a bit better. I stamped the Real Red card with the flourish from Creative Elements just to break up the expanse of red card and draw the eye to the stamped Christmas greeting.

Card used - Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White
Stamps - Ornament Keepsakes, Creative Elements, Greetings of the Season
Ink - Real Red, Old Olive
Extras - Holiday Ornaments Framelits, 1 inch circle punch, Old Olive 1cm tafetta ribbon, Whisper White bakers twine, rhinestone jewel

A good quick card to create for Christmas!

Ornament Keepsakes Non Christmas card

I love the new Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and matching Framelits in the Holiday catalogue. When I was playing I wondered what other occasion cards I could create and the bulb shapes just stood out to me as flower petals so here is what I made.

The ink colours are Midnight Muse and Raspberry Ripple.
Card is Whisper White, Midnight Muse and Raspberry Ripple.
Card size is 4 x 8 inches.

It's always great to get some versatility from your stamp sets!

Catalogue Launch Cards

I have had a lovely day creating cards for my Catalogue Launch tomorrow. I've also had fun trying out lots of new products that have arrived this week in my new catalogue order. So many things to play with!

I tried out embossing folders, new stamp sets, In Colour inks and card, framelits and the new Core'dinations card stock. I do love a good play day!

Here is my card using the Core'dinations card in Cherry Cobbler.

With this style of cardstock you sand over it to take off the top colour layer to reveal the inner core colour. Of course Stampin'Up! have everything in the range you will need to create lovely cards using Core'dinations.

Here I have embossed the Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations with Lacy Brocade embossing folder, then sanded over the raised image to create the distressed effect. The Christmas trees and stars were punched out of the Early Espresso card using the Merry Minis punches and behind the punched out images I layered Champagne glimmer paper.

I couldn't decide whether to add a greeting. I quite like the understated elegance of my Christmas card.

Here is one of the make and take cards my customers will be making tomorrow. I love this new stamp set Papillion Potpourri, mind you I always love a butterfly stamp!

If you want a quick single layer card then this is it! I've used some of the new In Colour inks here - Raspberry ripple, Primrose Petals and Summer Starfruit. I've stamped the images onto Naturals White card which is new in the 2013 catalogue - have to say "I like!"

Thanks for looking!

Paperific Class

Hi Everyone! Well Paperific gets underway tomorrow and we are looking forward to a fabulous show. Did you see the double page spread on Paperific in this months Scrapbooking Memories magazine and Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft magazine? It is a lovely article detailing the history of Paperific from when Stacey set it all up and running to present day with Naomi.

I will be on the front desk and my Stampin'Up! team will be manning the Stampin'Up! stand, doing demonstrations with the Simply Scored Tool, free make and takes and teaching classes. I'll also be teaching a Quick Class in the afternoon -  a cute pouch with Christmas tags which would make a great teacher gift. That's it below.

If you would like to do this class you can book at the Stampin'Up! stand. My class starts at 2.30pm. You can book for all our Stampin'Up! Quick classes at our stand and the cost for each class is $10.

Do come by the stand and get your new 2013 copy of the Stampin'Up! catalogue plus the new Holiday Seasonal catalogue. You will love them! The stand theme is Christmas and you will get heaps of inspiration from all our lovely displays using new products from the new catalogues which go live on September 1st.

See you at Paperific!!!!!!

Paperific is on this weekend!

Yes it is time again to get excited about Paperific being with us again! It's on at the Melbourne Showgrounds from this Friday August 31 until Sunday September 2. You can get details here.

Our Stampin'Up! stand will be an exciting place to visit as we will have the new 2013 Catalogue available for you PLUS the new Seasonal Holiday Catalogue too! Do come by and get your copies and see all the fabulous new items the team and I have created to show off all the wonderful new products from these catalogues. My personal favourite is the Champagne Glimmer paper - LOVE it!!!!!!!

Here is one of the new stamp sets you will see in the new Seasonal catalogue, it is Merry Minis and it has a matching Punch Pack you can buy to go with it. A globe punch, Christmas tree and star all perfectly matched to co-ordinate with the globe, tree and star stamps in Merry Minis.

This card is among the new sets used on items on display on the stand. It is also a card from my No-Cut card presentation at the Heartfelt Stampin'Up1 Event.

The globes were stamped in Lucky Limeade and Elegant Eggplant. I drew the cords in with black marker. I do like the effect of the globes "hanging " off the Lucky Limeade bakers twine.

The greeting is from another new set Greetings of the Season, also in the Holiday Seasonal catalogue.

I do hope you can make it out to the Showgrounds for a terrific show - 44 stands full of paercrafting items and ideas. As the slogan says "Heaven on Earth for Papercraft Lovers"!!!! See you there and please say hello to me as you come through the registers where I will be working each day. I'll be teaching a quick class each afternoon as well. I'll post about that tomorrow - right now I'd better get ready for work, night duty calls!

Farewell to Awash with Flowers

This is the last week of the Stampin'Up! retiring list and at the end of the month all those lovely items will no longer be available. Better get your orders in if you haven't done so yet!!!

I bought Awash with Flowers with the idea of doing some great cards with it but like a lot of ideas it got put on the back burner - my problem is I am too addicted to buying stamp sets I love and not getting enough time to use them!!!! I tell myself I'll use them one day - when I no longer work! In the meantime I have to find more space for another two delivery boxes of retired stamps. With over 5 years of retired sets I am running out of room this year!

So as I packed my retiring sets away I resolved to create one more time with some of them. I used a recent "Clean & Simple" layout for this card. You can find a link to their blog on the right of this page.

Cardstock is Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder, Early Espresso and Whisper White.

I made the card for my wonderful downline Simone Bartrum as a congratualtory card on her recent promotion to Counsellor with Stampin'Up! So proud of you Simone!

Creating Image Overhang Using Framelits/Edgelits Tutorial

Here is how to create the effect on your cards that I showed you in my last post. Trying out this technique will have you looking at your stamps in a whole new way when it comes to using them with your Big Shot and Framelits/Edgelits.

1. Stamp up your chosen image. Here I have used the baubles from Merry & Type.

2. Place Framelit over image deciding which section of image you would like to be outside the frame. Temporarily fix in place with post-it notes.

3. Using a sharp pencil trace inside the Framelit for approx a centimetre in either direction from where image joins Framelit. Remove Framelit.

4. With scissors cut up from base of image, cut around image to pencil marks and cut along your pencil lines.
See image below.

5. Now with your Framelit/Edgelit slide it under your cut out section and position in place so as it sits snugly under the image and around your stamped image. Keep in place with post-it notes.

6. Run through your Big Shot machine and cut out your image. Rub out any pencil marks and with a bone folder run over any crease in the overhang piece. You are now ready to create your finished card.

Here is the finished result below!

Enjoy playing with this fun technique!
Let me know how you go!

Heartfelt Card Presentation (5)

I'm not sure what to call this technique! Maybe "Cutting outside Framelits/Edgelits" or "Creating image overhang using Framelits/Edgelits"? Have a look at one of my samples and see what you think.

The stamp set used is Polar Party. What I have done is rather than cut out the whole image and use dimensionals to raise the image off the page as in the catalogue page 23, I have stamped the image directly onto my card so as the bear is grounded on the card and then used my Adorning Accents Edgelit to create the snow and create a 3D card.

Here is another example using the stamp set I Dig You.

I have a photo tutorial to load up on here for you so come back later to see how to create this effect on your cards.

Apothecary Art

A quick post to show you the birthday card I made Naomi Swan, my Paperific boss and former Stampin'Up! upline. Speaking of Paperific, I had a lovely surprise this morning as I was reading my latest copy of Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft magazine. I turned the page and there was a lovely photo of the Paperific team and great article all about Paperific tracing it's history from conception by Stacey to present day with Naomi. I had seen the mockup planned for Scrapbooking Memories magazine but none of us knew it was also appearing in Cardmaking magazine. So yes what a lovely surprise!!!!

Any way back to my card! The stamp set is Apothecary Art. I am so pleased this stamp set continued from the recent mini catalogue into the new 2013 catalogue. There is a retiring item used on this card and that is the embossing folder - Finial Press, oops there's two items! The Pretty in Pink satin ribbon is also retiring, along with all the other satin ribbons. Better get an order in by August 31 if you are a lover of satin ribbon!

The spotty framelit die piece is vellum that has been embossed using the Polka Dot embossing folder just for something different.

See you later!

Heartfelt Card Presentation (4)

Okay let's move onto my next series of cards that I presented at the Heartfelt Stampin'Up! Event. The technique is bleached painting and the style of card is a diamond fold card.

Bleached painting is a great technique for Christmas cards, especially for snowmen as you will see from one of my samples. Experiment with different card colours as you will get very different results from each colour of card as the bleach reacts with the paper dye.  Here's how you do it.

1. Ink your image with Versamark ink and stamp onto coloured card.  Sprinkle over clear embossing powder and heat set.

2. Fill a small dish or cup with fresh bleach. Did you know bleach actually goes off? With a fine paint brush or you can fill an aqua painter with bleach, paint the areas of your stamped image you want "coloured" with bleach. I prefer a fine brush as I feel I have better control of the bleach and where it goes on the image. Give it a few moments and then you will start to see the colour fading out of the area you painted.

See how well this works with a snowman image. The stamp set is Snow much Fun from the new 2013 catalogue. The card used below is Baja Breeze and for the Merry & Type card above the card used is Marina Mist.

It is a lot of fun doing this technique and seeing how different colours react. Look at how Perfect Plum turns out in the card below.

I loved how the chrysanthemum image turned out when bleach painted. The image is from the set Blooming with Kindness which is another of the new stamp sets in the upcoming 2013 catalogue. All the demonstrators who were Manager and above when we were at Convention earlier this year received this set as a gift when we attended the Managers Reception at Parliament House. You have to love the perks that come with being a demonstrator with Stampin'Up!!!!!! In case you were wondering the Whisper White matt under the bleached image was edged using the Scallop Trim border punch and matching Scallop Trim corner punch.

I'll pop a tutorial on here soon on how to create the diamond fold card.

See you again in a day or two!

Pocket Silhouettes

How sad this lovely set is retiring. If you don't have it in your stamping stash you only have until the end of the month to get it as the Retiring List ends August 31st.

I had to have another play with it the other day and made this card for my lovely downline Martina to congratulate her on her promotion. I've used the masked sponged background technique. Inks used were Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive. The images were stamped off before doing second and third imprints on the image while still masked. Early Espresso ink was used.

Another retiring item is the Lace Ribbon border. I've used it differently here - as a stencil! Theresa Dabrowski showed us this clever idea at Convention earlier this year. the bottom one is sponged using Old Olive ink and the top one used Tempting Turquoise ink.

If you decide you have to have this set or punch you had better email your order to me before August 31! Email me

I'll be back with another heartfelt card presentation soon.
