Santa's List Thinlit Swing Card

Where does the time go?????? I'm sorry I haven't been a very good blogger of late, somewhat distracted by happenings here at home.

Anyway here is a cute card for Christmas that I made as one of the samples for my recent Christmas Extravaganza classes.

It is so hard to get a good photo of these great cards, so sorry about the hand shot there! I have just realised this photo was taken before I added another embellishment. Under the sentiment I added a punched stamp image saying "I love Santa" from the "Very Merry Tags" stamp set.

Here is the inside view.

Items used to create this card are -

Card - Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White and Gumball Green
Ink - Cherry Cobbler, Baked Brown Sugar
Stamps - Santa's List
Extras - Big Shot, Thinlit Label Card die, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, Season of Style Paper Stack, Dimensionals

Overall a very quick card to make and good one to use up any of cuts of Designer Series paper you have! Plus I love making cards using the new Thinlits card dies, it makes the whole process so easy! If you'd like to get one for your card kit you can go to my online store and make an order for one there. Click on the "Shop Now" tab to the right of this post.

Now, I promise to try and be a bit better with my blogging.

Thursday, October 31, 2013

While away on holiday this week my DH asked me  to make a thankyou card to give our holiday unit complex managers. Fine, no problem, until I realised I had only bought Christmas stamps with me to create items for my November class. A dilemma, until I remembered at the last minute I had popped into my craft stash my new Thinlits that had arrived the day before we went away.

Now the Thinlits are a brand new line released by Stampin'Up! to be used in the Big Shot to create ready made swing/flip cards.

Here is what they look like -

And here is what I made -

They are very hard to photograph well! Hopefully you can see how the central cut out piece swings across when you flip the card open. I used the Circle Card thinlits for my card but I have added an extra flip piece on the right side of the card. If you use the thinlit as seen in the item photo it will cut the card off at the right hand fold and that will be your finished card size.

I saw an item on Patty Bennett's blog where she popped one end of the card through the Thinlit end so as it is not cut off when you run your card through the Big Shot.  See here to have that explained a bit more clearly!

I was pretty pleased with my first attempt at creating with my new Thinlits and I may include one of these cards in my November Christmas Extravaganza classes.

If you would like to order yourself some Thinlits then you can - just go to my online store (Shop Now button to the right of this entry) and place your order.

I'll be back again once I get sorted out at home to show you some of the cards we will be making in my November class.

Qucik & Easy Cards - Six Sided Sampler

These two cards are samples I made for  recent workshop. I wanted to create cards that showed how simple and easy it can be to create a card in a flash.

I used the terrific stamp set Six Sided Sampler. This very useful set has a matching punch which means you get even more value from your stamp set - something we all need to consider when we make our purchases.

Here they are -

The first card utilises the stamp set Tape It to create the faux tape images on the card.  the second one uses Washi tape to make the card even quicker to achieve.

It was one of my first plays with washi tape and I have to admit I really liked the look it gives to my card. This set of 3 washi tapes used here are the Gingham Garden Designer washi tape collection. You can see them on page 171 of the Stampin'Up! annual catalogue.

The card stock used here was Naturals White. It gives an added look of texture to the completed cards.

Try these the next time you need a card in a hurry!

One More Sunburst Card to Show You.

Here is one more version of the sunburst card we are doing in class this month. It is the portrait version using the same colour combos as in the previous landscape card from a couple of posts ago.

I got the colour combo from my Stampin'Up! Colour Coach - love using that for colour inspiration! See it on page 139 of the catalogue. At $24.95 it is great value as you will use it constantly. If you feel you just have to have one you can pop onto my online store and add it to your shopping basket. Stampin'Up! have made some improvements to the online store and it will now remember items you place in your basket for when you return next time to complete an order. BIG IMPROVEMENT! Thanks Stampin'Up!

Colour combo here was on the Bermuda Bay card and combined Bermuda Bay with Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo. Goes so well with the Early Espresso background.

Wildflower Meadow Card

These cards were created for a workshop that I did with one of my lovely long time customers on Thursday night. I CASE'd the idea from Marelle Taylor's blog but tweeked the colours and embellishments.

The large Wildflower Meadow stamp has been inked with Versamark ink to create tone on tone stamping and then the image is placed in the matching embossing folder and run through the Big Shot..

To get the matt behind the stamped punched image, simply punch out another artisan label piece in contrast colour, cut it half across the narrowest point, then layer behind the top and bottom edges of your stamped punched piece.

Stamps - Wildflower Meadow, Label Love

Card - Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantalope

Embellishments - Wildflower Meadow embossing folder, Big Shot, Artisan Label punch, Chevron ribbon Pear Pizzazz and Calypso Coral

Accordion Thankyou Card

One of our esteemed midwives is finally calling it a day and I was asked to make a farewell card for her. It was a hard decision as to what style of card to make - had to large enough for everyone to sign, plus look terrific. I ultimately decided on an accordion card as I could get several card faces into it and hopefully have room for everyone to sign on the back - but probably not, there are lots of staff who will want to sign the card!

I opted to use some retired items as I have them there to be used - so why not! So here is the card front.

This opens up to this -

And here is one of the card faces in detail -

It was a labour of love as I have known Jannette since I was a student midwife in 1982 and have enjoyed working with her on night duty for the last 9 years plus. It will be a big loss to our Birth Suite to see all years of wisdom leaving us. I hope it has been imparted onto all of us over the years.

Card - Pretty in Pink, Pool Party, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White

Ink - Pretty In Pink, Pool Party

Stamps - Creative Elements, Best of Butterflies

Extras - Big Shot, Delicate Doilies Sizzlits, Timeless Type Alphabet Sizzlets, Bigz Alphabet, Pretty in Pink stitched ribbon, Basic Rhinestones

Wishing Jannette all the best in her well earned retirement!

Bouncing Brayer

Here is another of my bouncing brayer cards. This one uses the big Sunflower stamp and the brayering has been done with Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry inks. The sunflower is stamped in black Staz-On ink.

Matted onto Daffodil Delight and folded Crushed Curry card. All finished off with Dafodil Delight tafetta ribbon. Actually very quick and easy to create!

Hope it gives you some ideas!

Paperific 2013

Sadly Paperific is over for another year and we have  to wait a whole year for the next one.  :(

I have had a wonderful three days working for Naomi at the Show and meeting all the enthusiastic paper crafters attending, saying hi to my Stampin'Up! customers and chatting with the exhibitors. It is a fabulous show and a real downer when it is all over. People hang out all year for Paperific and the really keen ones were there an hour before the show opened.

Here is the view I had from my spot at the ticket box.

It was fun to watch everyone deciding on what to buy and even better to see the exhibitors stock running lower and lower as we want them to have a terrific show so as they return next year!!!!!

So thanks Naomi for a great Paperific and bring on the next one in 2014!!!! Can't wait!!!!!

Gorgeous Grunge Card

Gorgeous Grunge is one of those stamp sets that when you first see it in the catalogue, you think no that's not my style. However once you start looking at the individual stamps in the set you realise that there are a lot of elements there that will be used time and again for backgrounds and other finishing off features on your cards and scapbook pages.

Gorgeous Grunge 130514 (W) $42.95
                                                                                130517 (C) 3$33.95

I have so much use out of the small spatter stamp, it's my go to stamp for when I need something to fill in a space that needs a little extra something.

At my catalogue launch we made this card using Gorgeous Grunge as the feature stamp set for the card.

It makes a great teenager male card and aren't they always the tough ones to create! The Designer series Paper comes form Soho Subway.

Did you know the Stampin'Up! cotton ribbon 127844  is perfect for stamping on and the image here from the set Really Good Greetings 130330 (W) works so well with the whole card.

Do have a think about getting this set and if you are inspired to give it a go you can purchase it in my online store. Just click on the "Shop Now" button to the right of this post.

Evergreen Twisted Easel card

One more twisted easel card to show - well there are others but this one I need to show you now as the Evergreen stamp set discontinues at the end of August when the new Holiday catalogue goes live. ( Got my copy in the mail today and I don't know where to start looking there are so many lovely products in it!!!) Any way back to my card. We made this one in my recent card classes and it was very popular with my stamping ladies.

I love the fir tree in this stamp set. For this card I have stamped it using Always Artichoke ink and done three generations of Stampin'Off, That is I stamped the first tree in the middle then stamped it again to one side with out reinking and then again on the other side with out reinking. Then using my Stamp-a-ma-jig I stamped over the trees using an Illuminate ink pad to create a subtle sheen/shimmer like snow over them. Love the effect!

Card stock is Old Olive, Baked brown sugar and Whisper White.

If you would like this stamp set for your Christmas collection you can go to my online store and order it  - "Evergreen" Code 127970. To enter my store click on the "Shop Now" button at the top right of this page.
